Admission

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for admission. A strong background with horses is helpful. We do not credit any previous farrier education.

Potential students will send an application along with a non-refundable $250 fee which, upon acceptance, applies toward the course tuition. The books Six-Figure Shoeing and Shoeing in Your Right Mind by Doug Butler will be shipped upon receipt of the application and fee.

One-half the tuition will be required forty-five days prior to class beginning, and the balance is required on the first day of class. The Principles of Horseshoeing (P3) will be sent upon receipt of the first one-half of tuition, along with assignments to be completed by first day of class. Lodging and meals are separate (see on- and off-campus housing section).

There will be no late admission after each class begins.

Grading
A seventy-five percent average on tests and assigned projects will be required for graduation. A student’s final grade average will appear on his or her diploma. Comprehensive competency tests with certificates will be given at the end of each course.

Policies
Character and presentation are essential to success. No alcohol, tobacco or other drug use will be permitted on campus. Persons coming on campus under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to participate. Verbal or physical abuse of other students or animals will not be tolerated. Violations will be grounds for expulsion without refund. Three unexcused absences will be grounds for dismissal without refund.

Placement Assistance
The school will encourage placement with a qualified farrier but cannot guarantee placement assistance upon completion of the program.
